Mini-interview with Turn Up Columbus DJ Manager, Vince Kendjorsky!

It takes a lot of great people to make Turn Up Columbus the successful entertainment company that it is. I want you to meet Vince, the Turn Up Columbus DJ Manager. He does all of Turn Up Columbus sales, social media, DJ training, and also DJs amazing weddings with style! Our mini-interview shows that he’s leading the way with big heart for his couples and passion for his work.

TUC: So Vince, what are some challenges you've run into with covid restrictions and how have you overcome them?

Vince: "The biggest challenge I’ve faced in regards to Covid was feeling the pressure of not being able to perform my job in the way my couples had anticipated. As a DJ, I pride myself on being able to build dance floors and celebrate epic parties with a lot of energy. The restrictions were a huge roadblock in creating an organic party environment that felt normal. I overcame it by doing everything in my power to make each couple's day everything they wanted.

TUC: What are some positive changes that have been made that you'd like to see stick around?

Vince: The biggest positive change I’ve seen in the event space would be focused on some of the amazing vendors we work with. Covid forced the wedding industry as a whole to level up together and provide completely personalized experiences to our couples. The best vendors are those who made it through the pandemic and grew through it!

TUC: What are some positive changes that have been made that you'd like to see stick around?

Vince: My sauce when it comes to DJing is focused on taking the familiar songs and adding a unique twist to them to add energy and keep everyone on their toes. My top 3 songs right now would probably be “I Want You Back” - Jackson 5, “Mr. Brightside” - The Killers, and a dope remix of “Peaches” - Justin Bieber

Wow! You can tell by those answers that Vince is a cutting-edge DJ who cares about his couples. He’s overcome this unique season with flying colors and rave reviews and Vince is leading Turn Up Columbus this wedding season with big heart and high energy!

Dance Floor + Bar = Amazing Wedding Reception

NDP2020CainPoreWedding10673.JPG

When you think of your perfect wedding reception, what comes to mind? Most likely a full dance floor of happy guests who stay until your grand exit because they’re having so much fun. As a bride or groom, there are so many decisions you have to make so that your wedding day is amazing. This one decision is a seemingly small one, but it could make or break the longevity of your wedding reception.

Where is the best place for your bar?

You want your bar to be near the dance floor. Many venues have a fixed bar, so you may not have a choice on its location. If that’s the case, consider the bar’s location when picking your wedding venue. If you get to choose the location of your bar, put it near the dance floor. If the bar is built in, but not near the dance floor, consider renting a portable bar to put near your dance floor. Here’s why.

You want your guests to stay on, or at least around, the dance floor. If they’re hesitant to dance, they might be persuaded by a little peer pressure when they see how much fun their family and friends are having. If they’re going outside, or to another room to visit the bar, they likely won’t make it back. You want the action to be on the dance floor, and with a good DJ, many will. But your guests will constantly be pulled out of the room to go to the bar, and that makes it more difficult to get them back to the dance floor.

If the bar is near the dance floor, even the non-dancers will be close by supporting the dancers. It creates a positive vibe for all the guests on and off the dance floor.

Having your bar in a separate location gives guests a place to hide from the dance floor. Everyone needs a break sometimes, but you don’t want them to have an excuse to stay away from the dance floor all night. They won’t have a reason to go back because they’ll have all they need as long as they have a drink.

Even your hardiest dancers will need to go to the bar to refresh their drinks. When they do, they could easily get distracted in conversation with other guests by the bar and not make it back to the dance floor.

Even the best wedding DJs can’t compete with the bar! Your DJ will work their heart out to keep your dance floor hopping, but help them out by putting the bar close by. This will help fulfill your wedding day visions, keep your guests happy, and help your DJ get your guests where they belong: on the dance floor!

Here are some great places to rent a fabulous portable bar: Aiden & Grace, Got Ya Covered Linens, and Metro Cuisine Catering & Event Rental.

You can also rent a cool mobile bar from: Short & Stout and Sunshine Wine Mobile Bar

A Wedding DJ that Goes Above & Beyond.

When you choose your bakery and select icing flavors for the perfect wedding cake, you’re not likely thinking about your wedding DJ. When you select your wedding photographer, you may not consider if they’ve ever worked with your DJ or catering company.

At Turn Up Columbus, we are working behind the scenes to make sure your big day is the wedding day of your dreams. While you’re doing photos after the ceremony, we are checking the dessert table to make sure the cake knife is in place for the cake cutting. Before the ceremony, your wedding DJ will review the timeline  with your photographer to make sure they’re working on the same schedule. During cocktail hour, your DJ might get you drinks, so you can finish pictures and greet your guests. A Turn Up Columbus DJ will assist your venue coordinator and wedding planner as needed to make your wedding vision come to life.

Not all wedding DJs are created equal. Of course every couple expects that their DJ will play their favorite party songs and keep the dance floor rocking. It’s more difficult to find a wedding DJ who is also a great MC. A person who can read the temperature of the room and say just the right thing at just the right time. The best wedding DJs will introduce the toasts, give a killer introduction for the bridal party, get your guest’s attention for the cake cutting, and get your guests on the dance floor. And he/she will do it all with style and finesse.

Turn Up Columbus DJs go the extra mile to add finishing touches to your wedding day to make it just right. Part of that is collaboration with the other vendors you’ve hired. Part of that is anticipating your needs as they come. Part of it is a lot of experience working weddings. Turn Up Columbus is glad to use all of these resources to make your wedding dreams come true.
